Dubai’s Tatweer, part of Dubai Holding, recently revealed that it has selected the Hill International construction consulting firm to provide project management services for its Bawadi tourism development project.
The Dh100-billion ($27.2 billion) Bawadi project is one of the most expensive privately financed development projects yet, according to Gulf News. Tatweer predicts that by the year 2012, some 3.3 million guests will visit Bawadi annually.
Hill has been providing planning services in connection with the Las Vegas-style project for the past year.
The meg-tourism project will include 31 hotels, doubling the number of hotels in Dubai. Construction will take place over the coming eight years. The theme based-hotels proposed by Tatweer will reportedly include: the Desert Gate Hotels & Resorts, the Wahat Alkuttab Hotels, the Desert Beach Hotel & Resort, the Land of Arabia Hotels & Resorts, the Wild Wild West Hotels, the Africa World Hotels, the Europa Hotels & Resorts and the Pirate's Cove Hotels & Resorts.
Commenting on Tatweer’s ambitious plans for the Bawadi project, Raouf S. Ghali, president of Hill's International Project Management Group stated: "We are awed by our client's vision and look forward to Hill's involvement in this prestigious project”.
