Dubai imported 230 million Emirati dirhams ($62 million) worth of tea from Sri Lanka in 2003, a 28 percent share of the Emirate's total tea imports, stated Director General of the Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DCCI), Abdul Rahman Ghanim Al-Mutaiwee.
These figures were announced at a recent meeting with the newly appointed Consul General of Sri Lanka, HEPD Fernando, during Al-Mutaiwee and the Consul General discussed ways to consolidate bilateral trade relations between Dubai and Sri Lanka.
Fernando announced that a delegation of high profile Sri Lankan businessmen will be visiting Dubai in the second half of this year to scope out opportunities in Dubai, and suggested that a delegation from Dubai should come to Sri Lanka during a major trade event. — (menareport.com)
