The United Arab Emirates (UAE) based Dubai Cable Company (Ducab)’s performance rose to a new peak in 2002 with sales shooting up by 13 percent, orders by 15 percent and production by 30 percent.
Ducab's record sales at 433 million Emirati dirhams ($118 million) from Dh 382 million ($104 million) the previous year, come mainly on the back of strong growth registered by its Medium Voltage range of cables which were added to the company's product offering in 1999.
Ducab posted a particularly strong performance in the export markets outside the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) where sales were up by 93 percent. The company
further consolidated its position within the GCC market and saw impressive sales growth of 56 percent. Overall Exports were up 60 percent in 2002, increasing their share to 24 percent of the total Ducab sales.
The company is looking at the Middle East North Africa (MENA) region for expanding its market share. Ducab is a privately held company set up in 1979. It is jointly owned by the Governments of Dubai and Abu Dhabi, and produces mainly low-to-medium voltage power cables and auxiliary products. — (menareport.com)
