The Dubai Cable Company (Ducab), has joined the Middle East business-to-business marketplace, Tejari, as part of an effort to streamline its procurement activities. The cabling provider will utilize Tejari's online marketplace to purchase goods including consumables, spare parts, and fire and safety equipment.
Ducab, which is jointly owned by the Governments of Dubai and Abu Dhabi, has established one modern manufacturing units in the region, occupying an area of 590,000 square meters of land in Jebel Ali. As Ducab produces more than 30,000 cubic copper tons equivalent of low and medium voltage cables, the company has set its sights on reducing operational costs and streamlining its supply chain via Tejari membership.
“Ducab's objectives in joining Tejari are threefold. Not only do we want to make our purchasing cycle more automated, Ducab also hopes to source goods at more competitive prices online. Overall, we believe that using Tejari's Internet-based infrastructure will increase the efficiency of Ducab's operations,” said Managing Director of Ducab, Colin Paskins.
As part of its larger e-commerce and IT infrastructure strategy, Ducab will evaluate whether to offer its cable-related goods and services for sale on Tejari. The manufacturer is also considering a project to link its ERP infrastructure directly into the Tejari marketplace for a more integrated supply chain. — (menareport.com)
