Anis Al-Jallaf, managing director and CEO of Emirates Bank Group, has been confirmed as the keynote speaker at ebank 2002, taking place from 21 – 24 September. Al-Jallaf will conduct a 45-minute address on day one of the region’s largest and most prestigious international summit, uniting key players from the financial services sector worldwide.
A presentation by Louis Scotto, general manager of retail banking at Emirates Bank International will follow, profiling meBANK’s achievements, brand development and future plans.
With an expected audience of around 600 delegates, the theme of eBank 2002 is ‘banking for the future’. The Emirates Bank International was the first bank in the region to introduce an internet banking service in 1996, and in 2001 it launched meBANK which offered retail banking outlets open 24x7. meBANK is dedicated to providing an informal atmosphere for customer convenience, using internet banking technology as the platform., Emirates Bank International launched its own internet bank, meBANK, in March 2001, which has ultimately become the 24 hour retail banking channel of the Emirates Bank Group.
Al-Jallaf said, “As the region’s earliest adopter of internet banking, Emirates Bank International is setting the trends in internet and retail banking in the Middle East market. meBANK is a perfect example of retail and internet banking going hand in hand and we are constantly keeping up with the needs of the consumer and adjusting our strategies to suit.” I am delighted to be involved with eBank 2002, both personally and from a meBANK perspective.”
meBANK is one of three platinum sponsors at the event, which incorporates an e-banking discussion forum with exhibitions and seminars from some of the world’s and the Middle East’s largest banking organizations.
meBANK was established in March 2001 and enables United Arab Emirates (UAE) residents and non residents to engage in banking transactions securely and conveniently, via any PC connected to the internet or at meBANK outlets. — (menareport.com)
