Egypt’s investments in IT valued at $238 million

The Egyptian Minister of Telecommunication and Information Technology, Ahmed Nadheef, estimated the value of the total new local and foreign investments pumped into the local information technology sector at EP 1.1 billion ($238 million) last year compared with EP 625 million in the previous year of 2000, reported Al-Ahram . Addressing a German Arabian Chamber of Commerce and Industry meeting in Cairo yesterday, the Egyptian minister said that investments in the IT sector are on the rise despite the prevailing global economic recession. The minister estimated Egypt’s information technology supplies exports per annum at $100 million. — (menareport.com)
