During the recent Eid Al-Fiter feast holiday, Egypt’s President Hosni Mubarak reviewed the future strategy and vision of the Egyptian airports authority at a meeting he held with the Egyptian Prime Minister, Atef Ubeid, and the Transportation Minister, Ibrahim Al-Demairy.
According to Al-Gomhouria newspaper, this strategy aims to raise the number of existing international airports in Egypt to as high as 30, in order to remain updated on the technological developments in this sector.
The Transportation Minister, Al-Demairy, stated that three Egyptian airports will soon begin operations based on the BOT system. These include the Marsa Alam Airport next October, the Alameen Airport next December and the Ras Sadr Airport next July. The minister added that Al-Farafera and Al-Wahat Al-Bahriya Airports will be operated based on the BOT system by 2002. — (Albawaba-MEBG)
