Orascom Construction (OC) this week has been awarded another two contracts for civil and track work for the third phase of the Cairo Metro line three.

The combined value of both packages is approximately EUR270 million, bringing the company’s share of the project to EUR375 million.

Phase three will stretch across 18 km and will include multiple tunnels, viaducts, and 15 elevated, grade and underground stations.

Both new contracts will be executed by Egyptian-French consortiums that have worked in the past on Cairo Metro projects. Orascom will complete the civil package in a consortium with VINCI, Bouygues and Arab Contractors, and the track works package in a consortium with with TSO (NGE Group) and ETF, a subsidiary of Eurovia.

Funding for the third phase of Cairo Metro line three is provided by French and European entities.

CEO of Orascom Construction, Osama Bishai, said: “We are pleased to expand our market share in the transportation sector and particularly the Cairo Metro program. We remain focused on adding quality contracts to our backlog that will lead to healthy returns for our shareholders.”

Orascom is a leading global engineering and construction contractor primarily focused on infrastructure, industrial and high-end commercial projects in the Middle East, North Africa, the United States, and the Pacific Rim.
