The Government of Egypt has requested a possible sale for co-production of 13 M88A2 heavy recovery vehicle kits and 13 M2 machine guns. The estimated cost is $73 million.
The proposed deal also includes spare and repair parts; contractor technical support and test equipment; program management, personnel training and its equipment; U.S. government and contractor technical and logistics services and other related elements of program support.
The vehicles will be used for towing, wrecking, and hoisting operations supporting recovery operations and evacuation of heavy tanks and other tracked combat vehicles.
The prime contractor will be United Defense, Limited Partnership, York, Pennsylvania. Implementation of this proposed sale will require the assignment of 4 U.S. government and 22 contractor representatives for 2 years to Egypt. The Government of Egypt has requested a possible sale for the upgrade of 35 AH-64A to AH-64D model attack helicopters excluding AH-64D Longbow Fire Control Radar, 35 Target Acquisition Designation Sight/Pilot Night Vision
Sensors, and 2 spare target acquisition designation sights. The estimated cost is 400$ million.
The proposed deal also includes spare and repair parts; support equipment, U.S. quality assurance teams, personnel training and training equipment, U.S. government and contractor technical support and other related elements of logistics support.
The proposed sale will upgrade Egypt’s anti-armor day/night missile capability, provide for the defense of vital installation and close air support for the military ground forces.
The principal contractor will be the Boeing Co. of Mesa, Arizona, and Lockheed Martin electronics and Missiles of Orlando, Florida. Implementation of this proposed sale will require the assignment of several U.S. government quality assurance teams to Egypt for 2 weeks to assist in the delivery of deployment of the systems.
