Egyptian Minister of Agriculture and Deputy Prime Minister Yussuf Walli has stated that Egypt currently stands in a leading international position as the world’s number one producer of sugar cane and rice. He attributed this achievement to agricultural reforms within the domestic market.

Walli has reiterated the need to use recycled agricultural waste and crops left outs in order to overcome the deficiency in fodder. Hassan Saud, the director of the Arabic Center for the Study of Dry Regions, stressed that there was a need to use recycled agricultural waste for the preparation of animal food.

According to Saud, a year ago, Arab countries had a total of 200 million heads of sheep and goats; cattle and buffalos — 45 million, and camels — 12 million. All produce 12 million gallons of milk and 2.6 million of red meat annually. — (Mena Report).
