A report published recently by the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS) showed that Egyptian exports and imports rose by 30.6 per cent and 25.7 per cent respectively between January and October 2004.
The report indicated that exports had risen from LE 29.7 billion to LE 38.8 billion. Meanwhile, imports increased, over the period review, from LE 50.5 billion to LE 63.5 billion.
The report said that exports of crude oil, cotton, clothes, textiles, rice, aluminum, iron and steel all increased, while exports of books, fertilizers, other oils and coal fell. Imports of petroleum, wheat and wood increased, while imports of medicines, corn, tobacco, seeds and calculators all fell.
