An Egyptian information technology and communications exhibition will open in the Iraqi capital city of Baghdad on September 25. The Expo will display Egyptian produced software and other IT products, and will last five days, according to the Egyptian news agency MENA.
Egypt’s IT sector is growing rapidly with over 600-million Egyptian pounds worth of investments in both hardware and software during 2000, compared to some EP 310 million in the previous year.
Market sources estimate Egypt's IT market is growing at 25 to 30 percent a year. However, an obstacle to the development of the local Internet culture has been a general shortage of quality Arabic content. — (Mena report)
