Egyptian national income reaches $15 billion

Recent reports reveal that Egyptian Prime Minister Atef Obeid estimates the overall national income from petroleum, tourism and taxes and the Suez Canal at 65 billion Egyptian pounds ($15.2 billion) per annum. 

 

Average per capita average income stands at EP 1,000 per year, or EP 80 per month, according to London based Al-Sharq Al-Awsat daily.  

 

Obeid added that Egypt’s national debt fell from $46 billion in 1995 to $25 billion in 2001, reflecting a 50 percent decline. 

 

Furthermore, between the years 1999/2000 and 2000/2001, the budget deficit fell from 3.7 percent to 3.45 percent. –(Mena Report)
