The Free Trade Area (FTA) Higher Committee recently finished its final assessment of the new FTA law that was recently proposed to it by the Egyptian government, according to Al-Watan daily.

The committee is expected to pass the proposal on to the cabinet, and then to parliament for final approval. A major amendment to the law proposal from the committee will be to grant the private sector increased sovereignty in the FTA.

In addition, the committee simplified procedures for obtaining certificates of origin by Egyptian, Arab and foreign investors. –(MENA Report)
