ALBAWABA - Emirates airlines is investing $48 million in cutting-edge training systems and equipment for pilots and cabin crew in anticipation of the debut of its much-anticipated Airbus A350 fleet, WAM reports.
The investment comprises three complete flight simulators, a fixed base trainer, a cabin emergency evacuation trainer, and a door trainer. Emirates hopes its pilots and cabin staff will benefit from these sophisticated technologies as they prepare for the A350's specific operating requirements.
Emirates' new training infrastructure focuses on the industry-first Pilot Support System (PSS), created in-house. Before entering the complete flight simulator, the PSS lets pilots experience a flight deck setup and flight planning in a fully immersive setting in order to enhance the training experience.
Emirates' first A350 complete flight simulator achieves the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) level D certification, the highest rating. The simulator's improved capabilities were recognized with no findings, local media reports, with a second A350 simulator slated for November certification.
Emirates hopes to raise its capacity for pilot training by 54% with these expenditures. With roughly 30 pilots and 820 cabin crew members having already finished different training phases, the airline anticipates having over 50 pilots trained on the A350 by the end of November.
Later this year, Emirates also plans to establish a brand-new, advanced pilot training center. Six full-flight simulators for the A350 and Boeing 777X will be housed in the 63,318-square-foot facility, substantially enhancing Emirates' training capabilities.
