Emirates Internet and Multimedia (EIM) today announced it will upgrade modems in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) for free or at a reduced price to ensure compatibility with Microsoft Windows 2000 and Windows XP, stated a press release.
The offer is available to existing Al-Shamil customers who have the older incompatible modems. The move completes the UAE's Windows upgrade program, with all other Internet services already enabled. This follows EIM's announcement in March that it is supporting Windows 2000 and XP with its external USB modem 4060.
The offer has been made valid for one year, giving the UAE's Al-Shamil customers the opportunity to take advantage of the replacement program. EIM is offering a free replacement for those renting modems, with installation also provided for free by Etisalat.
Customers who have purchased a modem from EIM will be able to replace their existing modems at a reduced cost and a one off installation charge. Those customers who have an annual contract will also be charged the reduced rate with installation provided for free.
Emirates Internet and Multimedia (EIM) is the Internet service provider arm of Etisalat and was launched in March 2000. EIM introduced BusinessOne and Al Shamil, the high speed Internet connections, online registrations, ‘dial ‘n' surf' and the Albahar portal. Today EIM has more than 750,000 users; placing the UAE in the top 20 most Internet wired countries in the world. — (menareport.com)
