Nigeria’s Bureau of Public Enterprises (BPE) has approved the engagement of Single Buoy Moorings (SBM) of Monaco, France and Lamprell Energy of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) as technical partners in the core investor-ship of Niger dock Nigeria.

The decision followed a recommendation by the Global Energy Company (GEC), the core investor in Nigerdock that SBM and Lamprell should be adopted as new technical partners in the aftermath of the withdrawal of J. Ray McDermott (JRM), the previous technical partner.

SBM recently bagged the contract to execute a mooring system for Shell Petroleum Development Company's (Shell) Bonga field, offshore Nigeria. It is also involved in a joint contract with Saipem from Agip Energy for an early production system on the Okono field offshore Nigeria, as well as the delivery of a Calm buoy for Chevron Nigeria.

Lamprell specializes in the fabrication of offshore modules, such as living quarters and control rooms and in the upgrading and refurbishing of mobile offshore drilling units as well as the design and fabrication of elements for land rigs. Design and fabrication of mud tank skids, derrick masts, drill floors and substructures, power modules, rock-over trailers and transportable/land rig camps are also listed among the company's areas of specific experience. — (menareport.com)
