280 young Saudi engineers will graduate this month from the Ericsson Telecommunication Technology Center in Riyadh following a yearlong training program, reported Al-Hayat daily. Graduates include engineers, assistant engineers and technicians, who specialize in various telecommunication technology fields.

This arrangement comes in the wake of an agreement between Ericsson and the Saudi Telecommunications Company for the expansion of the Kingdom’s existing GSM network. The deal included also the training of new employees.

The contract is valued at more than $300 million and aims at expanding network capacity by a million subscribers, more than doubling the current number of GSM lines in the Kingdom. In addition, it will implement features such as wireless emergency roadside phones throughout the country.

Ericsson, considered the leading provider in the new telecom world, has asserted its strong commitment to sharing its technological expertise and capabilities in the Kingdom. ― (MENA Report)
