Water Management Issues Team Leader at the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA) Mohammed Al-Eryani has been appointed Minister of Water and Environment of his native country, Yemen, in the new government formed by Abdel-Kader Bajammal.
Before joining ESCWA in 1999 as Water Resources Expert, Al-Eryani was Dean of the Faculty of Engineering at Sana’a University from 1995 to 1999 and Deputy Minister for Scientific Research at the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research in Yemen from 1990 to 1995.
Al-Eryani was the co-founder of Gayth Aquatech; a water and environment consulting, training and technology firm established in 1997, the clients of which included private sector and government institutions as well as international organizations such as the Food and Agricultural Organization of the United Nations (FAO), the International Center for Agricultural Research in the Dry Areas (ICARDA) and the United Nations Development Program (UNDP).
