Year-long talks on renewing an expired fishing agreement between the EU and Morocco are to resume in Brussels next Monday, EU Agriculture and Fishing Commissioner Franz Fischler said Tuesday, March 20. He said preparatory technical talks would be taking place this week.
The EU and Morocco have for the past year been negotiating a new accord that would allow European fishing vessels, primarily Spanish, to fish in Moroccan territorial waters. The previous accord ran out in November 1999. — (AFP, Brussels)
