Computer Shopper, the retail arm of GITEX 2003, came to a close after a record-breaking run on October 24, 2003, even as exhibitors reported an outstanding volume of sales and deals over the week-long event which was held at the Airport Expo, Dubai.
Visitor numbers recorded an all time high, with 75,638 people going through the turnstiles this year, a 16 percent jump over last year’s event which attracted 65,200 people, while the show recorded a 136 percent jump in net floor space sold.
While a majority of the visitors came from the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and its neighboring countries, a large number also came from the other parts of the Middle East, the subcontinent and Europe underlining the increasing reach and popularity of the show. — (menareport.com)
