Poorly designed high-rise buildings in the Middle East pose a "catastrophic" threat to the public, a leading fire safety specialist has said. A lack of qualified fire engineers is putting nations in the region at risk, noted Barry Bell, a senior engineering consultant with Wagner Fire Safety Management Consultants, Dubai.
"Most of the problems occur during the construction phase," Mr. Bell said, according to the GDN.
