ExxonMobil affiliate awards Caspian seismic survey contract

Exxon Azerbaijan Operating Company LLC (EAOC), operator of the Zafar-Mashal Production Sharing Agreement (PSA), has announced the award of a 3D seismic survey to Caspian Geophysical JLLC, a joint venture between Schlumberger and the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR).  


EAOC's PSA area contains the Zafar and Mashal structures located in deepwater approximately 110 kilometers southeast of Baku in the South Caspian Sea.  


The PSA was ratified in April 2000. Partners are SOCAR (50 percent), operator Exxon Exploration and Production Caspian Sea Limited (30 percent), and Conoco UK Limited (20 percent).  


The 3D seismic survey will be acquired by Caspian Geophysical MV Gilavar. The survey of the 850-square-kilometer area commenced September 22 and will take approximately three months to complete.
