ALBAWABA - In a remarkable move, 23 luxurious vehicles, once confiscated from criminal organizations, have been repurposed for patrol duty on the streets of Istanbul by the Traffic Police. The fleet, including prestigious brands like Ferrari, Bentley, BMW, and Mercedes, showcases a significant enhancement in law enforcement resources.

Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya, accompanied by Istanbul Governor Davut Gül and Istanbul Police Chief Zafer Aktaş, conducted a thorough examination of the vehicles seized during operations against criminal organizations. Following the inspection at Atatürk Airport, these high-end vehicles commenced their first patrols across the bustling streets of Istanbul.

Equipped with these opulent vehicles, the Traffic Police initiated patrols, with Bentley vehicles attracting attention at Taksim Square and Mercedes patrol cars stationed in Sultanahmet.

Vehicles seized from the Comanchero Armed Crime Organization, led by Hakan Ayık, were among those repurposed, including Skoda, 2021 model 2 BMW motorcycles, Harley Davidson motorcycle, 3 Volvo, 2 Mercedes-Benz, Land Rover, Audi, Porsche, Nissan, and Volkswagen, all now serving law enforcement purposes.

In addition to these operations, it was revealed that the Land Rover seized in an operation against Dilan Polat and her husband Engin Polat has also been allocated to the Istanbul Police Department.

Minister Yerlikaya expressed gratitude to the dedicated police officers, emphasizing that these vehicles, once symbols of criminality, are now serving the public and contributing to the country's peace and security. He concluded by stating, "Our unity, togetherness, and peace shall endure."
