The Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) said in a statement Wednesday, September 5, that it had increased its operations for supplying humanitarian aid to areas in Sudan, which have been hit by floods.
The United Nations agency said it would supply food aid by plane to some 200,000 people affected by the flooding in both the north and the south of the country, where roads had been cut by torrential rain.
The agency also said it would deliver food aid to more than two million people in other parts of the country, adding that again air delivery was the only option. Sudan has this year seen its worst flooding in 20 years. — (AFP, Khartoum)
