Orascom Telecom’s Jordanian subsidiary, FastLink, has outlined that its 2002 capital expenditure budget will be in the range of $120 million, reported Al-Alam Al-Yaum. The budget will finance additional technical support for its expanding user base. Fastlink predicts that its subscriber base will increase to 1.2 million, up from its current 730,000 users.
Jordanian GSM operator Fastlink doubled its subscriber base and its infrastructure capabilities over the course of 2001 in terms of network capacity and technology deployment, according to a company press release.
Fastlink was launched in 1995 as a private shareholding company operating the first GSM cellular network in the Kingdom. The network is currently the largest mobile phone provider in the country. — (menareport.com)
