Fastlink signed two new international roaming agreements with Nextel del Peru and Nextel Argentina networks, thereby widening Fastlink’s international coverage to include the sixth continent, Latin America, and increasing the number of networks in alliance with Fastlink to 159 networks in 120 countries around the world.

Fastlink’s alliance with the Thuraya Company for Mobile Satellite Communications has provided Fastlink’s customers with coverage in a number of countries that were not included in previous international roaming agreements such as Iraq, Iran, Afghanistan, Albania, Andorra, Djibouti, Eritrea, Estonia, Gambia, Ghana, and the Yugoslav Republic, in addition to others.

Fastlink’s International Roaming Manager Ola Tarawneh commented: “There is no doubt that the agreements that our company has signed with a wide array of operators around the world and its entry into an alliance with the Thuraya Company have resulted to a large extent in transforming the world into a small mobile village for Fastlink’s customers who do not have to forsake their mobiles when traveling, no matter where they go.”

Roaming is a key feature of the Global System for Mobile communications (GSM), giving consumers seamless same-number contactability around the world. By establishing international roaming agreements, operators exchange call event details on these roaming subscribers. — (menareport.com)
