ALBAWABA - In a historic move that redefines its legendary brand, Italian automaker Ferrari unveiled its first all-electric car in Rome on Monday, announcing its transition from the world of motors to the quiet power of clean energy, without abandoning the performance spirit that has made it a global icon.
The new car, named "Luce," meaning "light" in Italian, boasts a top speed of 310 km/h and a price tag exceeding €500,000 (approximately $586,000), clearly indicating that it is not aimed at the mass market. Rather, it represents a technologically advanced and exclusive offering that reflects the company's ambition to lead the future of electric sports cars, according to Reuters.
The design was developed in collaboration with LoveFrom, a studio led by renowned designer Jony Ive, giving the car a distinct look from traditional Ferrari models, particularly with its four-door configuration, a notable departure from the company's classic design philosophy.

The launch of the Luce represents the culmination of a long development journey that Ferrari began over a decade ago with hybrid Formula 1 technologies, before expanding their application to road cars in 2019, and culminating in significant investments in electric infrastructure, most notably the construction of the "e-Building" at its headquarters in Maranello.
Although "Luce" may not achieve huge sales, it represents a symbolic and strategic step at the same time, as Ferrari bets on attracting a new generation of wealthy customers who are more receptive to clean technology, while at the same time maintaining the loyalty of its traditional fans.
