The Palestinian Information Technology Association (PITA), consisting of 55 member companies, will participate for the first time in the region’s major IT event, the 2001 Gulf Information Technology Exhibition (GITEX), reported Al-Watan daily.
The conference will be held at the Dubai International Conventions Center from October 14 to October 18. Participation in the conference is expected to promote the Palestinian information technology sector, launched in the nineties following a period of relative market stability and the privatization of the Palestinian telecommunication sector.
The event is considered a valuable opportunity allowing for exposure of information technology (IT) companies to an overwhelming number of potential investors and partners. Last year, more than 73 thousand trade visitors attended the GITEX convention, and at least as many are predicted to participate in 2001.
Numerous IT products were launched to Middle East markets at last year’s event, in addition to several announcements regarding developments in Middle Eastern IT and communications markets. ― (MENA Report)
