The latest attacks in Saudi Arabia have increased the demand for security-related products and services.

“Our requests for such security items as access control systems has gone up by 20 percent and for electronic cameras and other surveillance equipment by 15 percent over the last two years,” Jamal Okhla, executive manager of Arab Builders for Security, told Arab News newspaper.

According to him, security consciousness had grown substantially among both government and private-sector bodies.

The demand, he pointed out, had been particularly high from compounds where Western expatriates live.

The latest attack on Saturday took place in the industrial city of Yanbu, where five Westerners, employed by ABB Lummus, were shot dead. Following this, some American companies were sending families home.

In a related development, a spokesman for the National Company for Cooperative Insurance (NCCI), said none of the victims of the attacks in the Kingdom are eligible for compensation for the damage inflicted on their vehicles or property. (menareport.com)
