ALBAWABA - Apple said that it would be working with OpenAI to integrate ChatGPT into the updated Siri earlier this month at the unveiling of Apple Intelligence. The Wall Street Journal now reports that Apple and Meta are negotiating a similar agreement to integrate Meta's generative AI into iOS.

Meta, like with other firms that are working on building generative artificial intelligence, is seeking to capitalize on Apple's vast distribution via its iPhones. This distribution is comparable to what Apple provides with its App Store on the iPhone.

The initiative comes as reports of a possible partnership between Apple and Alphabet's Google, its longtime partner in search, are combined with the company's intention to integrate technology from many AI companies into its products.

Furthermore, it is believed that the iPhone maker might look into joint ventures with other AI firms in other locations, including China, where the Microsoft-endorsed OpenAI chatbot, ChatGPT, is prohibited, as reported by Reuters.

Wall Street Journal, citing individuals with knowledge of the situation, adds that AI firm Anthropic has also been in talks with Apple to integrate its generative AI into Apple Intelligence, however, the talks are not yet finished and thus may not go forward.

In the event that Apple reaches arrangements with partners other than OpenAI, Apple has said that users will have the ability to choose which AI models they want to utilize, picking between external and more-capable artificial intelligence models and Apple's smaller internal Apple Intelligence systems.
