Steve Menking started his career life at Wall Street as a stock trader at SMB Capital, he later decided to quit and pursue another career. In 2020, he founded Menking Tutoring, an online test preparation center.

“I watched colleagues my age — or younger — excelling in their careers, but it was difficult for me to see people stay in the office until 1 a.m., and think that could be my future. It just wasn’t the lifestyle for me,” Menking stated to CNBC.

Menking now works for 20 to 25 hours per week while being at his own home and he makes nearly $1,000 per hour. (Menking Tutoring Facebook)

Menking knew he has a passion for teaching so he decided to start with this career shift and started teaching for almost 10 years. Menking worked as a teaching assistant and tutor in a college and earned almost $500,000 through private tutoring.

“I worked as a teaching assistant and tutor in college and, reflecting on it later, I realized that teaching brought out a more patient, purpose-driven version of myself. It gave me a deep sense of meaning,” he says. “I felt called to teach,” Menking said.

Notably, Menking now works for 20 to 25 hours per week while being at his own home and he makes nearly $1,000 per hour. Additionally, he know owns Menking Tutoring and collaborates with Forum Education.
