General Electric Power Systems (GEPS) introduced new energy management and water treatment technologies to Middle Eastern markets at the Water, Energy, Technology and Environment Exhibition (WETEX 2002) recently held in Dubai, confirmed a press release.
GE's Energy Management Services (EMS) division presented its Network Management, Susbstation Automation, and Asset Optimization systems. These systems enable utilities to optimize the generation, transmission, and distribution of electric power on their network infrastructure. The software applications can effectively reduce network losses as well as operation and maintenance costs.
Asset Management systems continually monitor primary substation equipment and provide early warning of technical problems or faults, allowing the operating company to move from a traditional periodic maintenance schedule to Just-in-Time preventive or condition-based maintenance.
GE Water Technologies, a division of GEPS, has introduced E-CellTM, an environmentally friendly product to industrial operations in the Middle East region. E-CellTM delivers water for boiler feedwater and high-purity applications at flow rates of up to 2,000 gallons per minute (GPM). This system requires no regeneration chemicals, predictable water quality, and no hazardous waste stream.
“There is a very clear increase in environmental awareness across the Gulf, resulting in a significant demand for these types of services and systems – driven by the rapid growth in population and industrialization,” said Field Marketing Development Leader for the Middle East region, Bassem Paul Fakhry.
GE operates in more than 100 countries and employs nearly 300,000 people worldwide, providing turnkey equipment, service and management solutions across the power generation, oil and gas, distributed power and energy rental industries.
GE has been active in the Gulf since 1933. Its activities in the region are conducted through direct presence, joint ventures, strategic alliances, and a wide network of distributors. GE has completed strategic projects in various hi-tech industrial sectors, defense-related contracts and major infrastructure developments. — (menareport.com)
