Global air passenger demand rise up by 8.6% in August

Total air passenger demand in the world went up by 8.6% in August on a yearly basis, the International Air Transport Association (IATA) said on Thursday.

Total capacity, measured in available seat kilometers, was up 6.5% year-on-year in August and load factor was at 86.2%, a record high level, the association said.


Over the same period, international demand increased by 10.6% and domestic demand rose by 5.6%, it added.

The IATA also said that global air cargo markets showed continued strong annual growth in demand in August.

Total demand, measured in cargo ton-kilometers, rose by 11.4% in August, compared to the same month last year.
