Durrat Al Bahrain, the Kingdom’s largest planned luxury residential, commercial and resort development, has hosted Shaikh Ali Al Jabber Al Ahmad Al Sabah, the Governor of Kuwait City at the site.
During his visit to the Kingdom, Shaikh Ali Al Jabber Al Ahmad Al Sabah visited the Durrat Al Bahrain site with Shaikh Hamoud Bin Abdellah Bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Governor of Manama, in addition to Kuwait’s Ambassador to the Kingdom of Bahrain, Shaikh Azam Mubarak Al Sabah. They were welcomed by Durrat Al Bahrain’s Chairman, Mr. Albdulhakeem Alkhayyat, Mr. Jasim Al Jowder, the project’s CEO, as well as a number of Durrat Al Bahrain management and employees.
Commenting on his visit, Shaikh Ali Al Jabber Al Ahmad Al Sabah, said “I have come to see the progress made at Durrat Al Bahrain and how far it has developed. This project will be of great benefit to Bahrain’s economy and provides a positive point of focus away from current political issues. Projects like Durrat Al Bahrain inspire the development of other similar projects and serve to strengthen ties between Bahrain and Kuwait.”
Shaikh Ali Al Jabber Al Ahmad Al Sabah also added that the Durrat Al Bahrain project will be a unique resort globally and will serve to attract significant attention from around the world to the region.
Mr. Abdulhakeem Alkhayyat thanked Shaikh Ali Al Jabber Al Ahmad Al Sabah for visiting Durrat Al Bahrain during his trip to the Kingdom. He expressed his wish that Kuwait and Bahrain continue to enhance their cooperation.
During the visit, which included a lunch on site, Durrat Al Bahrain staff provided the visitors with a high-tech demonstration of the project and received a briefing from Mr. Abdulhakeem Alkhayyat and Mr. Jassim Al Jowder about the project and its Atoll and Petal Islands, the villas and its beaches.
Shaikh Ali Al Jabber Al Ahmad Al Sabah concluded the visit by expressing his interest and admiration for Durrat Al Bahrain and the role it will play in driving and developing tourism in the Kingdom and establishing and opening greater economic opportunities.
The project has completed phase one development. It is owned by the Durrat Khaleej Al Bahrain Company, in which the Government of the Kingdom of Bahrain and Kuwait Finance House – Bahrain each hold a 50 percent stake. Contracts worth BD180 million have been awarded for work on the project to date.
