Greek Economy Minister Yannos Papantoniou said on Sunday, March 4, that Greece wanted to do more to help its neighbor Turkey cope with a debilitating economic crisis.
In an interview in the left of center daily newspaper Eleftherotypia, Papantoniou said: "Turkey now has great needs and we must strengthen our economic cooperation and offer economic aid."
The minister said that he wanted to seize the opportunity in an atmosphere of improving bilateral relations between the historically divided countries.
"We will go forward in this way with the prime minister (Costas Simitis) and the foreign minister" George Papandreou, he said. — (AFP, Athens)
