An international website specializing in airport services has ranked King Abdul Aziz International Airport in Jeddah among the worst airports in the world with regard to services. The “Guide to Sleeping in Airports,” a website managed by a Canadian travel consultant, classified the Jeddah airport as the second worst after the Islamabad airport in Pakistan.
Official spokesman of the General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA) Khlaed Al-Khaibary said they will discuss this issue to find out the credibility of the website and the criteria on which the classification was made.
The website (http://www.sleepinginairports.net) said travelers were asked to consider just how limited they thought four C’s of airport travel: Comfort, conveniences, cleanliness and customer service. “Travelers were quick to provide colorful feedback on those airports and terminals that left more than a little to be desired – in terms of services, amenities, sleep-ability and at times, good-old-kindness,” the website said.
“The main terminal is fairly lackluster. It isn’t overly clean, crowds can be a problem, and the services for travelers are in short supply. Rude immigration officers and lengthy queues do little to improve the traveler experience. Chairs are limited, uncomfortable metal and have armrests. Things might improve in mid-2015 when a new airport is expected to be completed.”
This has led to a debate on social media with many casting doubts on the accuracy of the classification.
