Over six million revenue passengers flew with Gulf Air in 2003, according to a company news release. This was the highest number ever carried in a single financial year.
The figures revealed that over half a million more passengers flew with Gulf Air compared to 2002 an increase of more than 10 percent, while the six million figure showed nearly a two million increase on ten years ago.
Last year saw the reduction in Gulf Air losses from 40.6 million Bahraini dinars ($1.07 million) to around BD 20 million, and this year Gulf Air will break even, achieving profitability in 2005. Aircraft financing debts have also decreased significantly.
Gulf Air was founded in 1950. Today, it is owned by the governments of Bahrain, Oman and the United Arab Emirates (UAE). The airline's network extends from Western Europe to Asia and covers 45 cities in 33 countries. — (menareport.com)
