Lebanon’s Goodies Group, owner of Goodies supermarkets, was recently sold to the Gulf Group for an undisclosed price. The acquisition includes Goodies’ two supermarkets, catering outlets and nine subsidiaries.
Goodies is more of a specialty food store than a supermarket. It is well known for its range of imported fruits and vegetables, meats, bakery and patisserie as well as stocking a range of salads and prepared foods. Since its refurbishment two years ago, the supermarket has become a popular restaurant for locals with a number of seating areas offering international cuisine dinning.
The Goodies chain was 70 percent owned by investor Nader Hariri and 30 percent owned by the Halawani brothers. The Gulf Group has already opened a Goodies Branch in Dubai. — (menareport.com)
