Horizons, an Internet software and Information Technology (IT) solutions company in the region, launched its new Syndication Solution, Horizons Syndication Server, an advanced system that allows Internet sites to exchange content automatically to suit the diverse site requirements for news and information.

Content is transferred from the source site (content owner) to the customer, who will either publish it on his own site or use it in information or research applications, using the latest Internet technologies such as XML and Web Services.

Mohamad Takriti, Horizon's CEO, stated that launching this system is a step towards completing the services offered by the company's advanced content management solution, Horizons Knowledge Server, the platform that powers several large Arabic sites. "This system will allow Arabic sites to exchange content more freely and flexibly, either commercially or on a collaborative basis, to enrich their site content", he added.

"Horizons Syndication Server supports worldwide content exchange standards like News Industry Text Format (NITF) and News Markup Language (NewsML), which are developed and adopted by developed by leading news publishers through The International Press Telecommunications Council (IPTC)" says Moayed Dib, Head of Technology at Horizons.

"In addition", he says, "the server provides rich functionality through an easy-to-use web interface, including flexible profiles, comprehensive administration, reporting and multiple content formats".
