HP Middle East Personal Systems Group receives several accolades at this year’s GITEX

HP Personal Systems Group General Manager, Anil Gandhi scoops  ITP Business Man of the Year 2006 at Windows Middle East Awards
DUBAI, United Arab Emirates, 17th December 2006 – HP Middle East Personal Systems Group was awarded several prestigious accolades at this year’s GITEX.

At the Windows Middle East ceremony, HP Middle East Personal Systems Group (PSG) claimed three awards in total, including Best Customer Support and Best Business Workstation for the HP Compaq 5000 series. Anil Gandhi, General Manager of Personal Systems Group for HP Middle East was awarded the ITP IT Business Man of the Year 2006 award for his work and dedication to the region and was presented by ITP Business Managing Director, Walid Akawi.

HP PSG was also recognised as Best Manufacturer of the Year 2006 for its Desktop range by PC Magazine, which was presented at the HP stand during GITEX and also claimed the Best Consumer Hardware Vendor 2006 award at the Arab Technology Awards, run by IT Weekly.

Anil said “HP is the only technology vendor that can address the needs of consumers, SMBs and enterprise customer alike, and we are delighted that this has been reflected in the awards we have received.

“I am extremely honored to receive ITP IT Business Man of the Year 2006 award and accept it on behalf of the entire HP- PSG team. The past 12 months have been marked by some outstanding work within HP- PSG including significant customer wins, great additions to our Product portfolio, increased investment in people and accelerated growth. The fact that we are growing faster than the market has led to new hires in Sales and Customer Support across the region, the expansion of our KSA assembly plant and more tailored programs for the Middle East market.

Anil has over 25 years of experience in the IT business, including sales, channel management, general management and supply chain operations. During the last seven years, he fulfilled multiple leadership roles at HP Canada, including the management of the Channel and PSG businesses.

Anil was the first General Manager of Hewlett-Packard in the Middle East, a tenure that ran from 1995 to 1998. When he relocated to Canada in 1998 he performed several leadership roles based out of HP Canada’s headquarters in Toronto.
Anil returned to the Middle East in November 2005 to lead HP’s PSG business.
