HP Middle East announced the regional roll out of a portfolio of Intel Itanium 2-based systems, integrated solutions and comprehensive services. With this launch, HP delivers the industry's broadest offering of Intel Itanium 2-based servers and workstations featuring breakthrough price and performance for HP-UX, Microsoft® Windows® and Linux environments.

“HP's launch of Itanium 2 is great news for the Middle East. When the rest of the world is in recession and cutting back on investment, businesses in the Arab World have the unique opportunity to buy a brand new technology, that is specifically suited to their needs and pockets” said Gilbert Lacroix, Intel Middle East general manager.

“HP has developed a comprehensive portfolio of products based on Intel's Itanium 2 complete with chipsets, a choice of operating systems, software and a broad family of server and workstation models that bolster Intel's efforts in this demanding market segment,” continued Lacroix

HP is a global provider of products, technologies, solutions and services to consumers and businesses. The company's offerings span Information Technology (IT) infrastructure, personal computing and access devices, global services and imaging and printing. HP completed its merger transaction involving Compaq Computer Corp. on May 3, 2002.

The company would have had combined revenue on a pro forma basis with the Compaq transaction of approximately $81.1 billion in fiscal 2001 and has operations in more than 160 countries.

HP has been present in the Middle East since 1968, and opened its Dubai based regional office in 1997 and has offices in Dubai, Ramallah, Cairo, Riyadh, Jeddah and Khobar servicing the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), the Levant and Egypt. — (menareport.com)
