HP has once again ranked first place in the desktop and mobile market in the Middle East. According to IDC’s Middle East figures released for the first quarter of calendar year 2005, HP dominated the desktop and mobile space pulling in at 14.8% market share and growing at 17%.
In the desktop market, HP also took the lead capturing an impressive 14.0% market share - almost double that of the next runner-up for the Middle East thus demonstrating a 25.8% year-on-year growth from Q1 2004.
In the United Arab Emirates, HP continues to lead the market across in the desktop and mobile space ranking 32.7% in the combined sector and 42.3% and 22.5% market share in the desktop and mobile space respectively.
In the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, according to IDC Q1 2005, HP also stole the limelight in the Desktop and Mobile space – pulling in at over 32% market share for Q105 and over 43.6% in the Desktop arena. “We have just signed a tremendous deal with one of the top banks in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, as part of their mission to implement the latest Desktop solutions and to offer upgraded e-systems to their customers and employees,” said Hazem M. Bazan, General Manager, Personal Systems Group and Solution Partner Organization- HP Middle East. “This marks one of several key business contracts, to be announced later this month, that we have secured across the region in banking and the education sector” he added.
Speaking at a press briefing held Monday in Dubai, Hazem M. Bazan confirmed HP’s commitment to driving the mobile market. Highlighting HP’s strength in the desktop arena, Hazem M. Bazan added, “Our figures in the desktop space are testimony to the success of our HP PC assembly plant, launched over two years ago. ‘Home-grown’ HP desktops, with the ‘Made in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’ stamp, have contributed tremendously to a number of recently won contracts in the region.”
“In Egypt, HP also ranked number one in the desktop and mobile space ranking at 13% market share. In the desktop space, HP achieved an 11.7% market share, also in prime position. On the mobile side, HP led the market achieving a 23.6% share,” Bazan added.
