Huawei Technologies Co.,Ltd ("Huawei" ), a leader in providing next generation telecommunications network solutions for operators around the world, today announced that it considers Turkey to be one the world’s most promising 3G markets.

Turkey already has two licensed GSM mobile operators – Turkcell and Telsim – but has plans to award a third license later this year.

In the field of GSM technologies, Huawei offers IP-based EnerG GSM solutions adopting 3G technologies, including high efficiency power amplifiers and interference cancellation. The solution, selected by many top-tier global operators including Spain’s Telefonica, helps operators enhance wireless network coverage, improves voice quality, and prepares them for seamless network transformation. As at December 2006, Huawei has shipped 800,000 new generation EnerG GSM BTSs transceivers to operators worldwide.

Huawei is one of the few suppliers for complete end-to-end 3G solutions and was the first company to offer an Iub IP transmission solution. Huawei has constructed an HSDPA (High-Speed Downlink Packet Access) networks for many leading operators, such as eMobile Japan and Etisalat, for cutting transmission costs by up to 60-90% while guaranteeing a high quality of service (QoS).

“The world’s 3G market is evolving very rapidly, but there are enormous growth opportunities for operators as technology continues to advance, bringing greater benefits to both operators and consumers,” said Lars Bondelind, VP of R&D and Operations, Huawei Technologies Sweden.

“HSPA/LTE, ALL IP and Mobile Broadcast technologies will dramatically improve the way Turkish mobile users communicate, and Huawei wants to facilitate that technical evolution.”

International markets represented 65 percent of total contract sales generated in 2006 for Huawei, as it continued to achieve significant market breakthroughs in developed countries such as Japan, North America and Europe. Huawei now serves 31 of the world's top 50 operators, including Vodafone, Telefonica, KPN, FT/Orange, Hellenic Telecommunications Organization SA (“OTE”) and Italia Telecom. In the area of mobile network infrastructure, Huawei has to date won 78 3G contracts; Of these 47 were UMTS based with 16 projects implemented in Europe.

In the face of transformation and evolution in the telecom communication industry, Huawei will continue to focus on delivering quality services and innovative technologies, and is committed to providing operators worldwide with ALL IP based Fixed Mobile Convergence (FMC) solutions to enhance the end-user experience through seamless connectivity any time, anywhere, via any terminal.
