ALBAWABA - The Lotus company's founder was driven by a vision of creating ultra-lightweight sports cars known for their exceptional handling and performance.

He was deeply passionate about engineering vehicles that prioritized agility and driving dynamics above all else. Notably, the founder held a strong aversion to the idea of electric cars being high-weight, aligning with his commitment to traditional, combustion-powered sports cars.

Despite this skepticism towards electric vehicles, Lotus has made a surprising shift towards EVs, unveiling an electric SUV and sedan, indicating the company's willingness to adapt to changing industry trends while staying true to its engineering heritage.

In a surprising move, the British automaker has embraced electrification, with two new EVs in its lineup: an SUV named "Electra" and a sporty sedan known as "Emeya."

The sporty sedan, Emeya, is making heads turn with its striking design. It boasts impressive features such as LED Matrix headlights and a distinctive charge progress indicator bar at the rear. Carbon fiber elements are generously distributed across the vehicle, from the rear splitter to the front splitter, showcasing its commitment to lightweight construction.

Lotus's shift to heavier EVs raises concerns about the handling characteristics traditionally associated with the brand. The Emeya, while not as lightweight as classic Lotus models, still impresses with its suspension, steering, and other driving dynamics.

The Emeya offers a range estimated between 260 and 300 miles, depending on wheel size. It supports fast charging of up to 350 kW, allowing rapid replenishment of the battery.
