Oman's Dhofar Power Company has awarded Indian company Larsen and Toubro a contract to build a $233 million (275 million euro) electrical power plant in the port of Salalah, the ONA news agency reported Tuesday, June 12.

Construction is to begin in September and due to be completed in February 2003, ONA said.

A consortium including Germany's Westdeutsche Landesbank and France's BNP-Paribas has agreed to guarantee a loan for construction of the plant, the agency added. — (AFP)
