Wireless information service provider Info2cell.com has launched a portal for mobile phone messaging for Bahrain mobile customers in coordination with Batelco, the GSM operator in Bahrain.

The new portal with a bilingual interface, allows customers to subscribe, customize and receive diverse information services on their mobile phones as well as send bilingual SMS messages to mobile phone customers across the globe using the portal.

Customers to infoME can log in with their mobile phone numbers and personalized passwords to access its entire range of services. These include picture messaging, downloading ring-tones, receiving customized information on mobile phones or personalizing the alert settings of each channel.

Batelco mobile phone customers can also send bilingual Web-to-SMS messages from a web interface to any mobile phone through the infoME website. Customers can time the sending of messages, create address book of contacts as well as enjoy facilities like organizing time with the infoME calendar.

Established in 1998 to fulfill the need for wireless value added services in the region, Info2cell reengineered and redesigned its core business, to become effectively the first Wireless Application Service Provider (W-ASP) in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region.

Batelco was established in 1981 as a Bahraini shareholding company. Batelco's shareholders include the Government of Bahrain, quasi-government institutions, leading financial and commercial organizations, and Bahraini and Gulf citizens. Between them, they own 80 percent of the shares with Cable & Wireless (UK) owning the remaining 20 per cent. — (menareport.com)
