International experts and vendors from the USA, Ireland, England, France, Belgium, Netherlands, Jordan, Saudi Arabia and Egypt will congregate at the Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry on May 26-28, 2002, for the MECT 2002 Exhibition, an annual Middle East Converging Communications exhibition.
“The MECT 2002 event this year features a strong international lineup emphasizing the increasing importance of the show as a gateway for world-class vendors entering the region,” said Dominick Keenaghan, president of INSIGHTS, the show organizers. “It is after all no secret that the telecoms industry in general is in the doldrums in most parts of the world, but the Middle East is currently bucking this trend.”
“We see it, for example, in the growth of mobile services and the increasing number of customer service initiatives such as call centers. We are also witnessing increasing demand by regional organizations to make their operations more efficient and customer-oriented through the strategic development of converged networks, the use of appropriate outsourcing services and the implementation of productivity enhancing automations options such as IVR (Interactive Voice Response), voice portals and associated automatic speech recognition systems. As a result many of our specialized exhibitor participants see significant potential for their products and services in the area" Continued Keenaghan.
"Due to the region's stable and growing economies many organizations can afford to make the necessary technology and infrastructure investments so as to reap the associated benefits. The fact that deployments of Converging Communications solutions in the area have been relatively slow to date is, according to our own market research, primarily due to a lack of qualified vendors.” — (menareport.com)
