The Iranian cabinet has approved a 17.2 percent hike in airline ticket prices, Minister of Roads and Transportation Ahmad Khorram said.

According to IRNA, Khorram noted that the price increase was the least amount needed for keeping the aviation companies afloat. Khorram added that although the fuel prices have annually gone up by 10 percent, the air tickets’ fares have remained the same during recent years.

The minister also conveyed: “Given the 15 percent inflation rate, Iranian airlines have refrained from increasing their prices while the fuel costs have risen form Rls.800 to Rls.2,580.” (menareport.com)
