The first phase of power generators from the biggest wind power plant in Iran on Wednesday joined the Islamic Republic's electricity network in Binalood, located at the northeastern province of Khorassan.
Talking to IRNA, deputy for the local electricity
company Mohammad Hassan Mottavallizadeh said that the first phase of the project is made up of five wind towers with an annual energy output of 124,000 megawatt hours. According to him, this energy output will spare gas consumption by
41 million cubic meters per year.
The plant is reportedly installed in a wind tunnel of 50
kilometers in length and 5 kilometers in width through which wind steadily flows at a mild velocity of 8.9 meters per second. (menareport.com)
